Competition Begins at 9:00AM.

Little Ninjas (4-6 yr olds) and 8-10 yr olds will compete first. The Ninjas will have special relays, listening and cordination tests in a fun atmosphere. Ninjas should take an hour.

Rules:USA-NKF / WKF

This is a traditional Japanese style karate fighting tournament. All who follow USA-NKF rules may compete.

Rule Exceptions and Changes:

Double elimination for all Kumite divisions, all Kyu rank elim time 1/2 minute. Juniors 11 and under Kumite most points at 1.5 minutes or 1st to 6 points. Kyu rank juniors & adults 12 & over most points at 2 minutes or 1st to 8 points. Black Belt Kumite most points at 3 minutes or 8 point lead. All Kata divisions are scored by Repacharge, Chicago style, same time Katas. Refereeing by mirror only when sufficient judges are not available. Two of the four rings will be smaller than regulation size. Rings will not be matted. Referee dress may include gi's for Black Belts or black polo shirt with gray slacks. Cloth shin/instep protectors or USA/NKF shin instep are required. Headgear not required for Adult Black Belt Kumite. Coaching uniform: Karate Gi, track suit, or referee uniform.

Uniforms

Clean white Gi with only one patch or logo, and a rank belt. (Little Nijas excepted)

Sparring Equipment:

The following equipment is mandatory for all sparring competitors: Mouthpiece, cloth shin and instep protectors or USA/NKF instep protectors, groin cups (required for males, optional for females), USA-NKF hand pads (others must be approved by Chief Referee) and foam headgear. You may be disqualified for missing equipment. Optional equipment includes cloth arm protectors and foam chest protectors. No protective padding or headgear with hard pastic or metal will be allowed. All equipment must be approved by the Chief Referee prior to competition. Exceptions approved by the Tour Director.

Only safety glasses or soft contact lenes may be worn during sparring competition. No jewelry, headbands, or hair clips of any kind are permitted.

Registration Guidelines:

Pre-registration must be received by Thursday Febuary 04, 2010. You can register here online, pick up a registration form at KLS or download a registration form from this web site and mail or deliver form with payment to Karate Life Studios (please do not send cash). Registration at the door is between 8:00AM and 9:00AM on Febuary 06. No refunds once registrations have closed!
